PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new fluorine-containing pentaerythritol derivative and to provide a method for improving leveling properties and water repellency of various wet coating films using the same. SOLUTION: The fluorine-containing pentaerythritol derivative is represented by the general formula (1) (wherein, A is an alkylene group; n1 is a numerical value of 1-80; n2, n3 and n4 are each the same or different and a numerical value of 0-79 and n1+n2+n3+n4 is a numerical value of 4-80; and X<SB>1</SB>, X<SB>2</SB>, X<SB>3</SB>and X<SB>4</SB>are each the same or different and hydrogen or a fluorinated hydrocarbon group).
