In a rolling bearing comprising rolling elements (3), an outer ring (4), an inner ring (2), and a bearing cage (1), the bearing cage has a surface coating (7) made of metal-free amorphous hydrocarbon in order to reduce friction in relation to the remaining parts of the bearing and to minimize wear from abrasion. The remaining parts of the rolling bearing may be provided with a tougher surface coating (12) made of amorphous hydrocarbon comprising metal.
