A control method for a digital image processing apparatus and the apparatus therefor are provided to capture a desired moment and photograph an object by using a limited temporary storage memory space by storing photos temporarily stored in a temporary storage memory at a high speed in a memory card of a low speed as soon as a shutter speed is degraded in a continuous shot mode. Photos of still pictures are continuously stored in a temporary storage memory by the on-signal of a shutter release button(S106-S108). The photos stored in the temporary storage memory are stored in a storing medium by the off-signal of the shutter release button(S109-S111). The photos are stored in the temporary storage memory according to photographing order by the predetermined number.
