A device and a method for detecting replacement time of a brake pad is provided to inform replacement time of the brake pad to a user with light or sound by using electrical signal outputted from piezoelectric sensors. A device for detecting replacement time of a brake pad comprises permanent magents(150A,150B), piezoelectric sensors(160A, 160B), and an ECU(170). The permanent magnets are mounted on one part of two brake pads(110A,110B) to generate same polarity. The brake pads contact with a disk(120) and generate brake force. The piezoelectric sensors are mounted at the other end of the permanent magnets and operated by reactive force of permanent magnets to output electrical signal. The ECU is connected to the piezoelectric sensors, analyzes output signal of the piezoelectric sensor, judges replacement time for the brake pad and transmits the result to a display unit(180). |
