A system and a method for searching personal information stored in a user terminal are provided to shorten a search time by creating search results of each search as history data and perform searching new files or changed files at a next time. A user installs a personal information management program in a user terminal(S10). When the personal information management program is executed, the user inputs one or more search words related to personal information desired to be searched, and the user terminal stores the same(S20). The user sets a search region of a memory as a target for searching, and the user terminal stores the same(S30). When the user selects a search button, searching is performed on files existing in the search region to determine whether individual files have the search words. Whenever a search word is detected from a particular file, it is added to search results(S40). The search results are displayed on the screen to user recognition(S50). If the user selects one or more files and presses a delete button, the corresponding files are deleted to erase the traces of the personal information(S60).
