A moving picture search system and a method therefor are provided to maintain a real-time display state of a moving picture which is being currently viewed by a user and generate an additional search control image in the same screen. A client terminal(20) includes a tuner(210), a demultiplexer(220), and a decoder(230). The tuner receives a moving picture signal transmitted from a VOD(Video On Demand) sever(10). The demultiplexer demodulates the moving picture signal received from the tuner. The decoder decodes and displays the moving picture signal demodulated from the demultiplexer. The decoder maintains a real-time display state of the moving picture, and additionally decodes and displays a search control picture capable of searching contents before and after the same moving picture.
