METHOD OF REMOVING THE BLOCKING ARTIFACTS FOR A COMPRESSED IMAGE

A method for removing a blocking phenomenon of a compression image is provided to judge whether the blocking phenomenon occurs on a DCT(Discrete Cosine Transform) domain of a 4x4 block unit and perform the deblocking filtering of a DCT coefficient of a block in which the blocking phenomenon occurs in vertical and horizontal directions of an image by the 4x4 block unit by using the optimum DCT coefficient. DCT coefficients for respective certain blocks are obtained from an input image(401,402). A boundary value about DC and AC coefficients of the input image is set up(403). An absolute sum of the respective DCT coefficients obtained about the respective certain blocks is obtained(404). A DCT coefficient adjustment constant is determined by using the DC coefficients of the respective certain blocks and a block unit number(405). The deblocking filtering of DCT coefficients of the respective blocks in which a blocking phenomenon occurs is performed by using the DC coefficients of the respective certain blocks, the obtained boundary value, the obtained absolute sum, and the obtained DCT coefficient adjustment constant(406-410).
