PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dropper type regulator provided with an overload protecting circuit eliminating an unnecessary voltage drop and efficiently performing appropriate overload protection. SOLUTION: The dropper type regulator for connecting a semiconductor element in series between a DC power source and an output terminal to extract a second voltage from a first voltage of the DC power source has the overload protecting circuit for detecting a voltage difference generated between both ends of the semiconductor element when detecting that a driving voltage or a driving current of the semiconductor element is greater than a first preset threshold value, and for performing appropriate overload protection when detecting the voltage difference is greater than a second preset threshold value.
