PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rectangular wire bending apparatus which can reduce the dispersion of the size of a formed coil by effectively supporting the whole of the coil formed from a rectangular wire by repeating feeding work and bending work, and also by preventing the dangling of the formed coil due to its weight. SOLUTION: The bending apparatus 10 comprises a winding tool 11 for guiding the rectangular wire W during bending the rectangular wire W, a forming tool 20 for bending the rectangular wire W by pressing it against the winding tool 11, and a forming tool turning means 30 for turning the forming tool 20 around the winding tool 11 by supporting the forming tool 20. In addition, the special shape flange 13 composing the winding tool 11 has a rectangular wire pressing portion 13A for pressing the rectangular wire W by such a way that the rectangular wire W becomes nearly horizontal when the rectangular wire W is bent by pressing the width less than a nearly half of the width on one width side of the rectangular wire, and a formed coil supporting portion 13B which is integrally formed on the upper surface of the rectangular wire pressing portion 13A, and supports the bottom portion of the coil of the rectangular wire W to be formed into a rectangular shape coil by being successively bent.
