OPERATION METHOD OF HYDROGEN GENERATOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an operation method of a hydrogen generator preventing air invasion into a modification section at the time of stopping of operation without degrading the activity of a catalyst.

SOLUTION: The hydrogen generator 3 is equipped with a reforming reaction zone 1 into which a raw fuel gas and steam are supplied and in which the raw fuel gas and steam are subjected to a steam reforming reaction to produce a hydrogen-rich reformed gas and a heating zone 2 for heating the reforming reaction zone 1. When the operation of this hydrogen generator 3 is stopped, after stopping the hydrogen generator 3, at least either the raw material gas or steam is supplied to keep the ratio S/C (number of molecules of steam/number of carbon atoms of the raw fuel) of the raw fuel gas and water in a range of 1-10 in the reforming reaction zone 1.
