PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a dry organic pigment having less energy consumption than those of conventional methods and having an excellent productivity in the method of drying by giving a stepwise thermal history to a material to be dried. SOLUTION: This method for producing the dry organic pigment is provided by comprising a first process of drying an organic pigment wet cake at 70 to 150°C so as to become 5 to 30% water content to obtain wet organic pigment, and a second process of drying the wet organic pigment while crushing at a higher temperature than that adopted in the first process and lower than the decomposition temperature of the organic pigment to obtain the dried organic pigment, and performing these processes in that order. Suitably, the first process is performed by an oblong type aeration band drier and also the second process is performed in a vertical type air flow drier having a crushing part.
