The cushioning (10) has a proximal surface, a distal surface (1) and a central passage opening (3). The cushioning is formed as a shield, with which two fastening latches (2) are attached on both sides of the passage opening. The fastening latches extend from the cushioning in opposite directions and guided through the openings (12) of a tracheostomy cannula (11). The latches are designed as a cannula band or provided with an eye (4) for fastening with the cannula band. The cushioning is made from soft material such as silicone, thermoplastic elastomer and elastomer foam.
