<p>An input recognition device of a portable terminal and a method thereof are provided to distinguish existence of events for selecting link areas displayed on a screen, into coordinates and colors, thereby detecting whether the events are generated through a relatively simpler comparison method. A display unit(317) is equipped with at least one icon area including color information and control areas which include the icon areas and contain link information for performing corresponding functions. If an event is generated, a controller(301) confirms whether event coordinates information is included in the control areas, and confirms whether color information at event coordinates spots is identical with the color information of the icon areas according to the confirmed results, then decides on validity of the event according to the confirmed results.</p> |
