PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a means for easily making a protrusion engaged with a depression even if a worker who carries out assembling work cannot see the protrusion and the depression, wherein the protrusion is formed on one frame out of a frame cover and a bottom frame both of which constitute a scanner enclosure while the depression is formed on the other, and the frame cover and the bottom frame are assembled by making the protrusion engaged with the depression. SOLUTION: An image reading apparatus 1 includes a scanner enclosure 2 that encloses a scanner unit wherein the scanner enclosure 2 is provided with a bottom frame 8 that constitutes the bottom thereof and a frame cover 9 that is attached so as to cover the bottom frame 8. On the bottom frame 8, a positioning piece 21 for determining the attachment position of the frame cover 9 is formed so as to be protruded while, on the frame cover 9, a positioning groove 30 into which the positioning piece 21 is inserted is formed, wherein guiding faces 33 each guiding the positioning piece 21 to the positioning groove 30 are formed at edges of the positioning groove 30 so as to be tilted toward the positioning groove 30.
