The coil (1) has a profile (3) arranged in a spiral manner, and adjacent windings (4) connected together in sections. The profile has an absorption section in a cross section, where the absorption section absorbs laser light of a defined wavelength range. The profile in the cross section has a transmission section (6), which is transparent for the laser light of the wavelength range. The absorption section and the transmission section are connected together in a firmly bounded manner. The absorption section and/or the transmission section have thermoplastic processable polymer. An independent claim is also included for a method for production of a supporting coil.
