PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a labyrinth seal having simple construction for effectively avoiding a problem with unstable vibration of a rotary element while maintaining high sealing performance. SOLUTION: The labyrinth seal having a plurality of seal teeth 2 develops a sealing function as a result that a pressure-drop cavity 3 formed along the outer periphery of the rotary element by the seal teeth generates pressure loss in a leak flow LS from a seal part to suppress the leak flow. Static pressure generation parts 5 are provided on the side faces and the end faces of the seal teeth. The static pressure generation parts generate local static pressure in a rotational flow RS occurring in the leak flow to suppress the rotational flow. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
