The method involves adjusting output of dampness of an inhaled gas in a heating and dosing device (15) that releases the gas to a mixing chamber (11), based on dew measured at downstream of the mixing chamber. Measured electrical resistance or capacitance lies as a measure of the dew of the gas, in a predetermined desired value range with a maximum value and a minimum value, where the electrical resistance or capacitance is measured between two measuring points at the downstream of the mixing chamber. An independent claim is also included for a device for controlling a breathing moistener, using temperature measured in an inhaled gas.
