Rotary piezoelectric motor, comprising a stator (5) comprising a stator ring gear (6), a base (7) for supporting the ring gear (6), a rotor (1) having a ring-shaped rotor shoe (2) supported on the ring gear (6) under preloaded stress, thrusting means suitable for pressing the shoe (2) axially on the ring gear (6) with preloading, and means (1) of piezoelectric excitation of the ring gear (6) in the form of a pair of piezoelectric rings (20, 20a, 20b) of the same diameter placed on either side of the ring gear (6), each ring (20, 20a, 20b) being fed by control voltage so as to generate a stationary wave of wavelength, one of which [waves] is in quadrature phase with respect to the other, the excitation sectors (C) of each of the piezoelectric rings (20, 20a, 20b), opposite each other, being offset from each other by a distance corresponding to a quarter wavelength or corresponding to an odd multiple of a quarter wavelength, characterized in that each ring (20, 20a, 20b) has an excitation sector (C) corresponding to 8.5/9^th of the total circumference of the ring (20, 20a, 20b).
