A display device and a driving method thereof are provided to set an initial channel according to a tuning mode designated by a user, thereby reducing transient phenomenon caused by dual tuning and reducing a booting time. A channel setup storage(122) stores mode selection information about at least one channel designation mode for designating a setup mode for automatically tuning an initial channel during power on. A controller(140) determines the channel designation mode based on the stored mode selection information if power is turned on, and performs a control operation so as to automatically tune a channel designated as the initial channel according to the determined channel designation mode.
