LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY DEVICE AND DRIVING METHOD THEREOF

An LCD and a driving method thereof are provided to reduce manufacturing costs by reducing the number of output channel numbers of a data driver into 1/3 by reducing the number of data lines into 1/3 by including plural pixel cells. An LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) comprises a display unit(110), a gate driver(120), a data driver(130) and a timing controller(140). The display unit comprises plural pixel cells. The plural pixel cells are formed in each area defined by plural data lines(DL1~DL3) and gate lines(GL1~GL5). In the plural pixel cells, at least three colors are repeatedly arranged along a direction of the data line and the same color is arranged along a direction of the gate line. Image signals of different polarities are supplied in a 2N pixel cell unit along the direction of the data line. The gate driver sequentially drives the gate lines. The data driver supplies image signals to the data lines.
