A white LED package and a direct-type backlight assembly including the same are provided to constitute the white LED package of a side-view type in the utmost edge portion on which partial darkness is made, thereby improving the darkness of the edge portion to improve the luminance uniformity of the direct-type backlight assembly. A direct-type backlight assembly(200) comprises plural lamps(111), a diffusing plate(117), a white LED(Light Emitting Diode) package(100), a reflector(113), and a bottom cover(115). The plural lamps are arranged in a line. The diffusing plate is constituted in the upper part of the lamps and diffuses light generated from the lamps. The white LED package is positioned in the edge of the diffusing plate to supplement the insufficient amount of radiation. The reflector is constituted in the lower part of the lamps and reflects light leaked from the lamps. The bottom cover is constituted in the lower part of the reflector to support and fix the components. |
