PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To update map data of a navigation apparatus. SOLUTION: A route search part 207a searches (by all-area search) for routes from a location of a self-vehicle specified by a GPS unit 202 to an avoidance point to be avoided by the vehicle on map data. A map data request part 207b requests an information center 300 to transmit map data for update within a range including the routs acquired by the search. In the case that the navigation apparatus 200 has requested the transmission of map data for update, in the information center 300, a map data transmission part 303b reads map data for update within a corresponding range from a map database 302 and transmits it to the navigation apparatus 200.
