PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a splice part grip prevention device for a ropeway using an inexpensive color sensor easily installed so as to prevent carriers starting from a stop on the automatic circulation type ropeway from gripping a splice connection part of a rope. SOLUTION: A colored part 50 is provided ahead of the splice connection part 2a of the rope 2. The color sensor CS and a movement amount detection device 8 using a photoelectric switch LB for converting the rotation of rope wheels 12 to an electrical pulse are provided at the stop. A pulse counter CN starts counting in accordance with a signal of the color sensor CS. At the same time, a start signal of a start instruction device 9 is stopped to stop the carrier 3 in a waiting position 11. In a comparator CC, a specified pulse number corresponding to the length of the splice connection part 2a is set, and compared with the discrete value of the pulse counter CN. When the discrete value reaches the specified pulse number, it is determined that the splice connection part 2a passes through a grip position 10, and based on the instruction of the start instruction device 9, an acceleration pushing and sending device 30 makes the carrier 3 start to move.
