MODULATOR AND MODULATION METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transmission apparatus capable of suppressing burst error in relatively simple configuration, without changing a block size of an encoded block even when a modulation multi-value is enlarged. SOLUTION: A modulator comprises: an encoding unit 11 for applying block encoding processing to transmission data to form block encoded data; a modulation unit 15 for modulating the block encoded data to form a data symbol; and a permutation unit 12 for permuting the block encoded data and supplying them to the modulation unit 15. Thus, a transmission apparatus 10 can be accomplished which is capable of suppressing burst error in relatively simple configuration without changing the block size of the encoded block even when the modulation multi-value is enlarged.
