PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain miniaturization of the whole device and miniaturization and cost reduction of a displacement type compressor in an evaporative cooling device comprising an evaporator 1 boiling and evaporating evaporative liquid such as water at a reduced pressure lower than atmospheric pressure, means 2, 3 and 5 for circulating liquid in the evaporator to the load side 4 such as a cooling part, the displacement type compressor 16 sucking and compressing steam produced in the evaporator, and a condenser 6 cooling and condensing the steam after compression by the displacement type compressor. SOLUTION: The evaporative cooling device for liquid is constituted to suck and compress the steam produced in the evaporator, first by a centrifugal compressor 15 and then to suck and compress the steam by the displacement type compressor 16.
