The endoscope (1) has a changeover probe (3) connectable with a grip part (2). A sterile barrier (4) is prided between the part and the probe, where a sterile coupler is provided at the barrier, and has a sterile adapter (6) detachably connected with the part. An adjusting device (25) for adjusting a lens (20) in the part is provided at a lens (21) that is connected at the probe. The coupler is formed for image-and light transmission, where the device is formed for automatically adjusting the lens (20) and/or lighting during coupling of the probe with the part. The adapter is made of plastic.
