The method involves positioning a preform (1) along a portion of a transport route of a carrier unit that is held over a rotating transfer wheel (41), which is supported relative to the carrier unit in a movable manner. The carrier unit is positioned by a cam control in such a manner that the carrier unit executes pivoting movements about a rotating axis (64) relative to the rotating transfer wheel. A position of the rotating axis is changed with the influence of a resetting force, where the preform is reformed after a thermal conditioning process. An independent claim is also included for a device for blow molding of a container.
