摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: a lithium-containing compound oxide that has a stable structure, is excellent in reversibility of charging/discharging and durability during charge/discharge cycles, and has high energy density per volume; a method for producing the same; and a non-aqueous secondary battery using the lithium-containing compound oxide. <P>SOLUTION: The lithium-containing compound oxide has a layered crystal structure and a composition represented by general formula: Li<SB>1+x+&alpha;</SB>Ni<SB>(1-x-y+&delta;)/2</SB>Mn<SB>(1-x-y-&delta;)/2</SB>M<SB>y</SB>O<SB>2</SB>(wherein, 0&le;x&le;0.05; -0.05&le;x+&alpha;&le;0.05, 0<y&le;0.4; -0.1&le;&delta;&le;0.1; and M is at least one element selected from the group consisting of Ti, Cr, Fe, Co, Cu, Zn, Al, Ge and Sn).
