PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle body structure for an automobile capable of reducing the weight of a vehicle body, securing a wide cabin and further accurately manufacturing a dashboard lower formed of an aluminum alloy. SOLUTION: The vehicle body structure 10 for the automobile has the dashboard lower 20. The dashboard lower 20 has a light-alloy board body 30 for partitioning an engine room 11 and a cabin 15; a steel left housing bent part 32 forming a rear part 46a of a left wheel housing 46; a steel right housing bent part 33 forming a rear part 48a of a right wheel housing 48; and a steel tunnel shell 35 forming the front end 29 of a floor tunnel 28.
