PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily discharge thick paper requiring large conveying force into a barrel by making the thick paper U-turn. SOLUTION: A paper discharge guide member 163 composing an inversion paper discharge path is rotatably arranged between a first position where paper is reversed and guided and a second position that is horizontal in comparison with the first position. With the paper discharge guide member 163 rotated from the first position to the second position, after the front end of the paper 5 conveyed by start of image formation reaches a predetermined position of the paper discharge guide member 163 (a position beyond a conveying roller 64B), the paper discharge guide member 163 is rotated to the original first position to guide the paper 5 while making the paper U-turn.
