PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for treatment of certain metabolic diseases, and to provide the use of a compound and their prodrug, a pharmaceutical composition containing such compound useful in treating such diseases. SOLUTION: The invention relates to the compound and composition for treatment of cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, cancers, acidosis, and obesity, through the inhibition of malonyl-CoA decarboxylase (MCD).
