PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a greening structure and greening method which each prevent production of a slippery surface on a planting part caused by flow of rainwater into between the planting part and an inclined surface, in the case of greening a roof of a building or an inclined surface of an artificial foundation, prevent a foundation part from slipping down by vibration of an earthquake, and have excellent operability for setting. SOLUTION: This greening structure formed on an inclined surface 1 of a roof or the like of a building is composed of a supporting material 6 such as a chain which is fixed to the inclined surface 1 on one side and hung down along the inclination, a foundation part 2 which is composed of a drainage mat 4 supported on the inclination surface 1 with the supporting material 6 and a water permeable sheet 5, and a planting part 12 laid on the water permeable sheet 5.
