PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To raise sterilizing and antibacterial effects in laundry concerning a washing machine having sterilizing and antibacterial functions. SOLUTION: The washing machine includes: a washing tub 4 for storing the laundry; and an electrolytic bath 10 for dissolving out silver ions having light exciting action and adding them to water. The electrolytic bath 10 supplies a silver solution and allows the solution to contact the laundry. Light is radiated by an LED 5 when water exists in the laundry, thereby raising the sterilizing and antibacterial effects in the laundry. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
