PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and apparatus for embedding a detecting/recording function of over-limit voltage on a silica wafer of an integrated circuit, and detecting, protecting and recording the overvoltage exceeding the pre-set voltage limit. SOLUTION: A detector circuit and a recorder circuit are placed in series or in parallel on an electrical connection between an integrated circuit device and voltage pins connected to an outside power source. When a voltage source is connected and an overvoltage condition is detected, the detector circuit short-circuits the connection while the recorder circuit records the event for later investigation.
