PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for preparing a diamondoids polyol which is useful as a high functionality polymer raw material such as a chemistry amplification type photoresist resin for microfabrication and LED sealants. SOLUTION: The method for preparing the diamondoids polyol is characterized in that diamondoids such as diamantanes, triamantanes or the likes are hydroxylated in a water/organic solvent two-phase system by a ruthenium compound and hypochlorous acid or its salt.
