<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a switching device for automatically switching a call by a video telephone to a voice call when other processing using a display screen is performed during the call by the video telephone. <P>SOLUTION: In the switching device for alternately switching a call by images and voice and a call by voice only during the call in one terminal, a detection means detects that a screen displaying the image is replaced with the screen of other processing during the call by the image and the voice first (S3), and then a switching means switches the call by the image and the voice to the call by the voice only with the detection of the replacement as a trigger (S4).
