A portable terminal having a function for providing sound source information, a sound source information providing method thereof, and a sound source information providing server are provided to offer correct information for a sound source without storing or processing various kinds of sound sources as well as music, and simplify a process by providing the sound source information based on a unique code matched with the sound source. A unique code extractor(120) separates a sound source received from a microphone(110) into an audible sound and an ultrasonic signal, and extracts a unique code from the ultrasonic signal. A controller(140) transmits the extracted unique code to a sound source information providing server and displays sound source information matched with the unique code by receiving the sound source information from the sound source information providing server. The unique code extractor includes a high frequency filter(121) separating the ultrasonic signal from the sound source and a binary code extractor(125) extracting the unique code having a binary logic value from the ultrasonic signal. The sound source information includes additional contents information of the sound source.
