PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal transfer recording medium having improved transferability without impairing wear resistance and solvent resistance of a print image. SOLUTION: In the thermal transfer recording medium comprising one or more layers of thermal transfer layers on a base material, at least one layer of vehicle of the transfer layers contains acetophenoneformaldehyde resin as a main component or acetophenone-formaldehyde resin, epoxy resin and/or polyester resin as main components. For example, the acetophenone- formaldehyde resin is polycondensate mainly formed of polymer represented by a formula, wherein n denotes integer, and the used acetophenone- formaldehyde resin contains a mixture of polymer having different value of the n. A range of 40 to 120 deg.C of a softening point is preferable in view of transferability, wear resistance and solvent resistance, and the value of the n (polymerization degree) is selected so that the softening point becomes this range. |
