A method for controlling a computer remotely is provided to enable a parent to control the computer use of kids through a remote terminal by stopping operation of the computer forcibly and preventing the execution of booting mode of the computer for a predetermined time at the same time. It is checked whether a lock signal is received from a remote terminal while a computer is operated(304). The computer is logged out and a booting mode of the computer is forcibly blocked at the same time when the lock signal is received(306). A lock mode execution guide message is displayed through a monitor of the computer when the lock mode is executed(308). The lock mode is released and the booting mode is permitted in the computer after the lock mode is executed for a predetermined time or when an unlock mode is received from the remote terminal during the lock mode(314).
