PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reproducing unit capable of smoothly executing an effect such as animation scaling without largely increasing throughput. SOLUTION: A parameter list preparation section 201 prepares a parameter list containing a plurality of parameters indicating scaling ratios to a plurality of pictures. A scaling processing section 302 acquires a parameter corresponding to a picture scaled from the parameter list when the picture scaled in an output video signal outputted from a decoder 301 is a first picture generated from the same frame in a video source, scales the picture scaled at the scaling ratio designated by the acquired parameter, and scales the picture scaled at the scaling ratio used in the scaling of a preceding picture when the picture to be scaled is not the first picture.
