A planar light source unit and a display device having the planar light source unit are provided to maintain lamps at an optimized temperature and increase the illumination efficiency of the lamp to enhance the luminance of the planar light source unit. A planar light source unit includes a light guide(1) for projecting light through a light-projecting face(1b), three lamps(2a,2b,2c) arranged along one side of the light guide, and a lamp reflector(3) for reflecting light emitted from the lamps to one side of the light guide. The three lamps are arranged at a predetermined interval. Two lamps are located in proximity to one side of the light guide and a single lamp is remotely placed. The lamp reflector is arranged in close proximity to the three lamps and surrounds the lamps. The cross section of the lamp reflector has a convex form.
