PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an economical cylindrical battery capable of enhancing current collecting efficiency by simple structure and thinning a current collecting rod, without decreasing the capacity of the battery. SOLUTION: The cylindrical battery is equipped with a bottomed positive can 1 in which a positive active material 2 and a negative active material 4 are filled and an electrolyte is poured on the inside; the current collecting rod inserted into the negative active material 4 in the positive can 1; a negative terminal plate 7 connected to the end of the current collecting rod and closing an opening part of the positive can 1; and a gasket 6 arranged on the back side of the negative terminal plate 7, through which the current collecting rod is inserted in the central part, and forming a sealing part 6b surrounding the outer peripheral part. Recessed and projecting parts 12 are formed on the outer peripheral surface of a part inserted into the negative active material 4 of the current collecting rod. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
