<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which prevents a delay caused by processing for detecting toner concentration when operation control is performed according to fixing temperature. <P>SOLUTION: When the power of the image forming apparatus is turned on, heating control of a fixing roller is started (S101) after initialization processing, and control for making the temperature (Temp) of the fixing roller rise to temperature Temp2 at which warming-up processing is finished is performed. After heating the fixing roller is started, the drive of a main motor is started (S102a) and concentration control is started (S102c). In consideration of time when detection output from a concentration detection sensor 44 is stabilized, start timing of pre-rotation processing has only to be set so that the detection output can be stabilized by the time the temperature Temp gets to the temperature Temp2.
