PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aqueous coating material which has excellent stability of the coating material and forms a coating film excellent in resistance to staining. SOLUTION: This aqueous coating material is essentially based on a water-dispersible resin (A), which is provided by emulsion polymerization of a monomer group including at least one or more alkyl (meth)acrylates in the presence of a nonionic surfactant (p) and an anionic surfactant (q), wherein the content of a polymerizable monomer containing a carboxy group in the above monomer group is 2 wt.% or less, the total amount of the (p) and (q) components is 0.1-20 parts by weight with respect to 100 parts by weight of the total amount of the above monomer group, and the weight proportion between the (p) and (q) components is 100:0 to 60:40; metallic oxide sol (B), which has a particle diameter of 1 to 20 nm and a pH 8.5-11; a color pigment (C); an extender pigment (D); and aggregate (E) having a particle diameter of 0.05 mm to 5 mm.
