PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information processing apparatus, a control method and a program that can reduce the occurrence of an error in which spaces that are not accessed in normal use cannot be read under magnetic influence if adjacent spaces are frequently accessed for reading and writing. SOLUTION: If there are unused extra spaces in hard disks 20 and 22 after rebuilding, the program makes a disk check on the extra spaces in the hard disks 20 and 22 periodically to prevent the extra spaces from becoming unreadable under magnetic influence of frequently accessed adjacent spaces.
