The invention relates to an apparatus for cleaning and removing adhesive residue from the surface of used brackets, consisting of: a main body having a circumferential wall and a base defining an inner chamber for housing an abrasive material; an upper cover which covers the main body in order to seal the apparatus and which houses the operational components of the apparatus; an internal sealing member disposed between the main body and the upper cover in order to form a seal therebetween, said sealing member comprising a lower end and and upper end; and a member for straining abrasive material, which is disposed next to and supported by the lower end of the sealing member and which enables the passage of particles of the abrasive material during cleaning and prevents the passage of adhesive or resin residue which has been removed from the bracket and which is intended for disposal.
