The present invention discloses cobalamin compounds containing at least one halogen radioisotope and pharmaceutical compositions containing the cobalamin compounds. The at least one halogen radioisotope is the same or different and emits a positron. Preferably, the one or more halogen radioisotope is <SUP>18</SUP>F, <SUP>76</SUP>Br, or <SUP>124</SUP>I. The cobalamin compounds of the present invention are useful for positron emission tomography imaging. The present invention also discloses methods of evaluating organ function, diagnosing a tumor, or imaging a tumor or an organ in a mammal by using the cobalamin compounds containing at least one halogen radioisotope that emits a positron.
