PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an engine cooling apparatus that can prevent boiling of cooling water near an exhaust heat recovery device exposed to a high temperature state even after engine shutdown, in an engine with an exhaust heat recovery device. SOLUTION: The engine cooling apparatus includes a first circulating flow passage 11 that allows a coolant to circulate between an engine 10 and an exhaust heat recovery device 20, a second circulating flow passage 12 that allows a coolant to circulate between an engine 10 and a radiator 30, and a pump 13 for transporting the coolant that circulates between the first circulating flow passage 11 and the second circulating flow passage 12, wherein after the shutdown of the engine 10, a controller 14 is provided for driving the pump 13 depending on an internal environment of the exhaust heat recovery device 20.
