<p>A cosmetic composition is provided which includes a water-soluble sulfo-substituted polysaccharide, a phospholipid and a carrier. The composition exhibits sunscreen protective properties. The preferred sulfo-substituted polysaccharide is sodium stearoxy pg- hydroxy ethyl cellulose sulfonate.</p>
