<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ensure satisfactory charging and image formation by restraining a foreign matter of a polarity opposite to that of a charging bias from sticking to a charging roller even if a foreign matter escapes from a cleaning means at the start of the rotation of a photoreceptor drum. <P>SOLUTION: In the image forming apparatus, a DC bias Vdc(+) of a polarity opposite to that of a DC bias Vdc(-) applied to the charging roller during image formation is applied when a position on the photoreceptor drum corresponding to the position of the contact of a cleaning member with the photoreceptor drum during the stop of the rotation of the photoreceptor drum first passes through a charging nip part being at least the position of the contact of the photoreceptor drum with the charging roller by the rotation of the photoreceptor drum. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
